The Boy Turns One
So...it's been one month since my little man turned one year old, and I'm just now posting pictures from his birthday. One shout-out apology to the grandparents for my miserable blogging skills. Sighhhh. However, the fact that I'm getting around to posting them at all deserves a high-five. And the cuteness of my boy definitely makes up for any lost time. Am I right??
We had a blast celebrating our J, and he had a blast being celebrated. As you'll see in the pictures, we enjoyed his birthday as a family and then had another little party with our local friends. Seeing as this was a big year for our little guy, we invited 15 of our closest friends to come over and celebrate. 21 people showed up. I had cooked dinner for everyone from scratch (welcome to my life), so a few (or more) extra people brought a sudden moment of panic. And an hour before everyone was scheduled to arrive, a big chunk of plaster from our ceiling came crashing down onto my nicely decorated table. So yeah...there were some opportunities for sanctification that night. But we had so much fun, and the Lord provided. Everyone ate and was satisfied. There was (and is) a hole in our ceiling, but thankfully we got everything cleaned up before our guests arrived, and the cake, which was safely in the kitchen when the ceiling collapsed, was spared a sad demise. And at the end of the day, there was a smiling boy stuffing his face with cake to the joy (and perhaps horror) of his happy guests. What a gift.
Happy birthday, my dear boy. You are precious beyond words, and I love you dearly.
And now...for the pictures.
Birthday breakfast: pumpkin donuts. Our fav.
Present time.
Lovin' the tunnel his NeNe sent him.
Gifts from his girls.
Cake time.
Sleepy time.
Party time.
Our ceiling, now featuring a 4 by 1 foot hole. As of last week, we have a similar one above our bed. Pretty sure the girls' room will be next. And then the living room. It's basically raining plaster in our house. Fun times.
As is local tradition, on a child's first birthday, you put out things that represent future careers. Whatever item a child chooses determines the career he or she will have. We thought we would indulge our friends and partake of this tradition. J chose the ball and the pencil, which means he will be an athlete and a scholar. We tried to put out a Bible, but they said it was too big. Haha.
Singing happy birthday...in two languages.
E teaching J how to blow out his candle.
He's got fans.
My one-year-old boy.
